Family Sponsorship

Sponsor a Family Member

If you are married or in a common-law relationship with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you and your dependent children may be eligible to be sponsored for permanent residency.

Sponsorship applications are quite comprehensive, but if the applicant's relationship is genuine, there should be little reason for a rejection. Commonly, there are a number of deficiencies in applications which lead to rejections. Our guidance will ensure we put together a complete application that gives you the best chance of success.

Family sponsorship also applies to Canadians wishing to sponsor their parents for permanent residency. The parental sponsorship program differs from the spousal program as there is a strict cap on the number of applications allowed per year. Applicants must submit an form to show their interest in applying for parental sponsorship.

We highly recommend getting in contact with us for assistance in entering an interest to sponsor form and for the sponsorship application itself. In 2019, the window to submit applications was opened for one day, and during this time, the cap was reached in approximately seven minutes. For 2020, the parental sponsorship program has been put on hold due to Covid-19, but may still open later in the year.
